Digital India Initiatives - List of useful application

Recently I stumbled upon a Indian government portal that allows people to pre-book an appointment in any ( around 41 as on June 2016) of the government hospitals.

The site was :http://ors.gov.in/copp/dashboard.jsp

This website was commissioned as a part of Digital India Initiative.

I thought to dig deeper and came across many such useful application which are first time to be realized in India.

#1- Online OPD appointment plus lot more :http://ors.gov.in/copp/dashboard.jsp

"Now getting an OPD appointment, lab reports and blood availability in any government hospital has become online & easy" . Official quote from ors.gov.in website. I would say in near future this platform is going to serve a lot more purposes than currently visible.

The current use and facilities available on this website  are:

#1- Any one having an valid Aadhaar number can book an OPD appointment by using a simple online form

#2- Any one with a valid UHID/Hospital Registration No. ( currently for selected hospitals ) can use the same to check their Lab reports

#3- Any one can search blood bank  database to check for availability of specific blood types ( currently for four state and Delhi)

Official Information about this website:

Online Registration System (ORS) is a framework to link various hospitals across the country for Aadhaar based online registration and appointment system, where counter based OPD registration and appointment system through Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) has been digitalized. The application has been hosted on the cloud services of NIC. Portal facilitates online appointments with various departments of different Hospitals using eKYC data of Aadhaar number, if patient's mobile number is registered with UIDAI. And in case mobile number is not registered with UIDAI it uses patient's name. New Patient will get appointment as well as Unique Health Identification (UHID) number. If Aadhaar number is already linked with UHID number, then appointment number will be given and UHID will remain same.

On Namami Gange - National Mission for Clean Ganga - Ideas & Thoughts

I saw this website https://nmcg.nic.in/ few days back and this thought stirred in me of why now and till when this gets done.

I went through couple of pages and resources to have a close look of our approach to clean rivers

Few documents that I scanned through:

http://www.cpcb.nic.in/newitems/12.pdf
https://nmcg.nic.in/writereaddata/fileupload/13_NMCG118Prioritytowns.pdf
http://cpcb.nic.in/upload/NewItems/NewItem_195_STP_REPORT.pdf
http://www.idfc.com/pdf/report/2011/Chp-18-Industrial-Water-Demand-in-India-Challenges.pdf

As I could not find anything innovative and for most of the part the  Namami Gange projects is about setting up more Seewage treatment plants and community awareness programs.

Anyways, as usual this Idea popped into my head so thought of Hawking it all here :
(As crude as crude oil, contributors welcomed

On saving our mother rivers from dying of pollution:

Concept:

About an alternative strategy to combat river and water resource pollution.

Pointers:

Rivers should be freed of the burden of carrying sewage. Rest would be taken care by the rivers themselves. Flowing water would take all existing waste to the ocean the next monsoon arrives.
The idea is to establish a network of waste water canals (channels) that run through about 35 Metropolitan with >10 L population, and collects the 3500 MLD/day of sewage from each these cities.
This sewage can then be treated at treatment plants installed at various “Treatment centers and could be put to use for industrial / agricultural usage and residual can be made to dump into the wasteland like desserts or oceans.
These “sewage carrying canals can be built along the course of existing rivers, they should be chambered and not open so that accidently they do not mix with river water with concrete as the base so they do not allow seepage to the found water.
The budget to dig these “Alternative channels” could be arranged by – Shramdaan, agriculture and industrial corridors on usage of this channels as discharge channels for their waste water and also as a source of treated water for their purposes. By pledging   shramdaan, people can help digging this alternative channel (Pseudo River) in their areas and this effort to save rivers could be into a national movement.

Little psychology:

Generally, it is difficult for people and masses to perceive generalized and complex instructions, e.g., from statements like: come lets clean our rivers or come let`s get the silt and trash out of the rivers, people could not draw clear call to actions while it is seen that simpler instructions and with clear call to action is easily comprehensible and appeals to the human mind and can be easily turned into a mass movement, e.g., come lets dig a hole for a day and save our river from dying.

This approach is the ultimate and permanent solution to address water pollution as once established this channel would ensure for generations that no sewage contaminates the river through their course and also provide more control on how we would want this sewage to be treated and provide water that’s used for industries and still does not impact water fit for drinking and domestic purposes.

More can be contributed in this direction if provided a suitable opportunity....

Gyaniiis are welcomed to comment and share there wisdom :)
